Grateful as I am for the blogging community and friends that I’ve made here, I’m taking a break from this blog for now.
The most obvious reason is lack of time – there are a number of things offline that need my attention and blogging is too distracting right now. There’s also a lack of content problem. I don’t really believe in writer’s block in the literal sense because it is always possible to get words on a page. But I have struggled with what to write that feels appropriate for the blog. I can’t write about the good happening in my life due to privacy and sensitivity concerns. I can’t write about the not-so-great stuff happening in my life again due to privacy, but also because no one would believe me and also it would sound tone-deaf because overall things are fine. I have close to 100 unfinished draft posts and they remain unfinished and published because none of them feel right. They all felt kind of fake and inaccurate. There’s also lack of interest. I find myself uninterested in creative writing and poetry, uninterested in the prompts. Finally, I felt like blogging was not having a very positive impact on my mental health at the moment. So it’s time for a break.
I don’t know how long I’ll be on break or whether I’ll continue to lurk. I don’t intend or anticipate this break to be permanent, but I do need a break.

Be well,
JYP
Enjoy your break. Return refreshed when the time is right.

Your post today was nicely done and even handed.

Well, I had a year to reflect and become more reasonable. If I had written it the day after Mother’s Day 2021, it would not have been so even handed!

Time and distance can do that to hot emotions.

I was there recently too, as you know, my friend. If you’re not getting happiness and satisfaction from it at the moment, best to step back and forget about it until you feel more excited about it again. We’ll all still be here. Unless the breaks overlap. Lol. Be well.

I knew you would understand. Appreciated. I think the break did help for refreshing energy. Now it’s catch up time.

Thank you – it was a little odd to take a break from blogging and blog friends, old and new. I did need it though. I am feeling better about blogging. Thanks for sticking around.

Glad you are back. I’ve been posting about my book launch, set for next week, May 11th. So, you might say, I’m back to blogging too. Enjoy your return with new thoughts to share. 📚🎶 Christine

Ah, sad to see you go, no matter how swift. But if it’s time you need, then you’ll only come back stronger once you get the blogging pangs again. Take care, JYP. Will be missing you!

Blogging isn’t supposed to be a chore. Only post when you feel like it or when you have something to say. Or both at the same time. Enjoy your break. Enjoy yourself. Come back when you’re ready. Oh. And ignore outside prompts. Unless they really inspire you. Rest and recuperate!

Exactly – this blog shouldn’t feel like a job (or a slog). Some distance was a good thing. Thanks for understanding

Reblogged this on Jewish Young Professional and commented:
I’m feeling the same way I did when I wrote my last “taking a break” post – an indicator that it is time for a blogging break of indeterminate time. Everything’s fine. Nothing personal – it’s just time for a break.
Be well,
JYP

Enjoy the break.
When I took mine it was for some similar reasons, and it has given me a better perspective on blogging, and I hope you can find the same.
Good luck with the good stuff, however unbelievable.

That’s hard to believe 😉

I suppose that is a bit dramatic. I could have phrased this better. But I do feel like things going on in my life are not particularly relatable and it begs the question of why and how to share

some would argue that keeping difficult things bottled up inside of you is not good for you. That’s not to say that one should blog about his/her issues… only that one should find an outlet to work through them.

There is so much to do in our lives beyond writing texts for our own (or even someone else’s) blog.
Thousandfold things engross us and others pull us from our own security. Such preoccupation can really exhaust us, and then we do face a moment when we just want to be ourselves and have time for our own “self”.
We wish you peace of mind and a time of peace where you will be allowed to be yourself to the fullest and enjoy the smallest but also bigger things.
Good cheer and a scrumptious “silence” for a while…,
