Taking A Break

I feel like this Kermit stock photo deserves a better post, but alas. Image by Alexas_Fotos from Pixabay

Grateful as I am for the blogging community and friends that I’ve made here, I’m taking a break from this blog for now.

The most obvious reason is lack of time – there are a number of things offline that need my attention and blogging is too distracting right now. There’s also a lack of content problem. I don’t really believe in writer’s block in the literal sense because it is always possible to get words on a page. But I have struggled with what to write that feels appropriate for the blog. I can’t write about the good happening in my life due to privacy and sensitivity concerns. I can’t write about the not-so-great stuff happening in my life again due to privacy, but also because no one would believe me and also it would sound tone-deaf because overall things are fine. I have close to 100 unfinished draft posts and they remain unfinished and published because none of them feel right. They all felt kind of fake and inaccurate. There’s also lack of interest. I find myself uninterested in creative writing and poetry, uninterested in the prompts. Finally, I felt like blogging was not having a very positive impact on my mental health at the moment. So it’s time for a break.

I don’t know how long I’ll be on break or whether I’ll continue to lurk. I don’t intend or anticipate this break to be permanent, but I do need a break.

This PSA isn’t an “I’m giving up” but it is an “I’m going on break”

Be well,

JYP

  1. I was there recently too, as you know, my friend. If you’re not getting happiness and satisfaction from it at the moment, best to step back and forget about it until you feel more excited about it again. We’ll all still be here. Unless the breaks overlap. Lol. Be well.

  2. Blogging isn’t supposed to be a chore. Only post when you feel like it or when you have something to say. Or both at the same time. Enjoy your break. Enjoy yourself. Come back when you’re ready. Oh. And ignore outside prompts. Unless they really inspire you. Rest and recuperate!

  4. There is so much to do in our lives beyond writing texts for our own (or even someone else’s) blog.

Thousandfold things engross us and others pull us from our own security. Such preoccupation can really exhaust us, and then we do face a moment when we just want to be ourselves and have time for our own “self”.

We wish you peace of mind and a time of peace where you will be allowed to be yourself to the fullest and enjoy the smallest but also bigger things.

Good cheer and a scrumptious “silence” for a while…,
